In Fond Remembrance...
This
page is dedicated to all those who have lost the gentle friendship of a
faithful companion animal.
Our precious Baby
Milly passed this morning. We are all heartbroken.
Sometimes no matter how hard we try, we can't save them. I want to tell
you thank you for all you did to save her. She surely was a gift...she
touched all of our hearts. She passed very much loved. Lucinda Brown who
found 2 day old Baby Milly under a porch with her sibling whom had already
passed, Alice & Emily Poole who took such great care of her, Scully
Poole who did everything "cat-ly" possible to care for Baby Milly
and all of us at ACAR who wish things could have turned out so much differently
for her. We wish we could save them all.
Sassy,
longhair dachshund mix, loving, faithful family member of the McAleer
family of GPF, MI. Sometimes the kindest decision
is also the hardest to make. We're
sure Sassy knows that she is very much loved
and missed.
I adopted CK when
she was 2 years old. Her owners did not want her anymore and they were
going to have her put-down. I took her instead and we shared a life together
for 18 years.
At the age of 10, she had a cyst on
her lower intestine and the vets didn't give her much hope for survival
of a major operation. Near death, she looked up at me, meowed and began
to weakly purr. I elected to have her get the operation. She survived it
fine and during her two week recovery at the animal hospital, I visited
with her every 4 hours. Over the years there were little scrapes and bruises,
etc. that she endured and me along with her. CK loved to ride in the car
and we were never apart for more than a few hours for the entire 18 years.
Around May 1, 2004 she became ill
and started failing. Her beautiful long and soft orange fur got unruly
and she began losing weight. She rebounded several times but around the
20th of May, she began to rapidly fail. On May 23rd, we spent our last
night together and I lay awake all night with her on the floor with her
on her favorite blanket. The next day, I took her into the animal emergency
clinic and they helped me determine that there was no hope of her surviving.
Her organs were shutting down, etc. I asked that they help her to pass-on.
They gave her a sedative and then I took her in my arms and they gave her
the injection that would finally ease her pain. My heart is heavy and a
part of me is gone. I know that we'll be together again someday.
I had her cremated and her ashes will
be returned to me in her little urn. I will keep her with me and when it's
my turn to pass-on, she will be joined with my ashes and we'll be buried
together. This sweet little lady enhanced my life and I know I did right
by her all through the years that we were together. I miss her so very
much and it's difficult trying to find ways to ease my pain of her loss.
However, I know that the love is eternal and that love is why I cared for
her in the first place and why I chose to help her cross over the rainbow
bridge.

In loving memory of Chantel...
Chantel, a beautiful Torti who was
an emaciated stray rescued by the Cobb Family of Wells, ME. Sometimes
even with the very best of veterinary care, love and prayers, there is
just no happy outcome available and we must let go. I'm sure Chantel
found the peace she probably never had in
life. Sadly missed and loved-Cobb Family,
Debby (ACAR) and Happy-her adopted Mom-to-be.
In Loving memory of Dewey
Collins...
Dewey,
faithful, loving campanion dachshund to the Collins
Family of Eliot, ME. Though his life was savagely
ripped away from him and his loving family way too soon, we wish them the
strenghth needed to honor his memory. Dewey is much loved and missed by
his family, members of ACAR and the world community that has rallied to
his cause.
This is Minou
sleeping with her favorite teddy bear. Minou
was a kitten whose mother hit by a car and killed shortly after giving
birth to her and her littermates. Sadly Minou died from a degenerate disease
at the age of four weeks. We would like to thank Post
Road Veterinary Clinic and Dr. McDonald DVM for
all they did to try to save her. Though her time with us was short, she
had the very best of care and she knew that she was very much loved. Minou
will be sadly missed by all who had the joy of knowing her. Debby
(ACAR)
Meet Arrow & The Little Ones
This past spring, we rescued seven
kittens, four-two week olds & three-four week olds. We did not have
the mothers to both litters, so we had Arrow (the mother to one of the
litters) feeding the whole crew! She was very acccepting of the "foster"
litter. Even with the best of foster & veterinary care, Thomascenia,
Danielle, Cupcake and Maria (four of the kittens)
sadly passed away of fading kitten syndrome. It is hard on foster families
when an animal in their care passes on. We thank them for their every effort
to save them and share in their sorrow. The three remaining kittens are
recovering well and will be placed up for adoption when they are well.
Arrow the mother has been spayed and is now living in her new home. Sadly
loved and missed by Boomer (ACAR)
Suzy much loved long time cocker spaniel
companion and family member to Dexter Steer. This
beloved canine will be missed by many of the folks in the town of North
Berwick. Suzy and Dexter could often be seen about town on many of their
long walks together.
In loving memory of Simbarella,
our beloved Rottie. Our time together was way too
short, but Thank God for all the wonderful memories. You were one in a
million. You will be greatly missed. A truer friend there never was.The
Cyr Family of Wells, ME.
Barney, much loved canine to
Janis Lord & Janet Chapel of No. Berwick, ME.
You will always be missed.
Sadly Missed Winnie, canine
friend and companion to Julie Fernee of No. Berwick, ME. May
happy memories always keep her close.
Nunu and Empress, long time feline
family members and companions to Isa Thomas of No. Berwick, ME.
Faithful companions gone, but happy memories remain.
Mini Muffin, feline friend and companion
of Happy Ballard of Barre, VT. Mini always
knew that she was very much loved.
Sunday evening I got a call. Our family dog, Carrie
Anne was very sick. We rushed her to the emergency
room. There, the Vet told us she suspected cancer. We drove home, with
a feeling as though we were going home without our child. That night, after
the blood work was complete, the tests showed she was bleeding internally.
Even after surgery, her chances of a full recovery were slim to none. Our
family had to make one of the hardest decisions we could imagine. We chose
to do the human thing, and end her suffering. She was thought of nothing
less than "our baby"... our first baby. She was the sweetest,
most wonderful dog. I trusted my 2 year old to play with her. I trusted
my 5 month old to lie beside her. She loved those children... she loved
her whole family, and we loved her the same. We did not lose a dog yesterday;
we lost a member of the family. She will be missed, and forever loved.
Carrie Ann's Family
Baby, much loved feline family member
of the Thomas Family of So. Harpswell, ME. Forever
in our hearts.
In loving memory of Brother
Bear, a little black kitten that was rescued from
drain pipes. You fought so bravely to live. Fondly remembered and sadly
missed. His Foster Mom Courtney, Dr. MacDonald DVM & Dr. Nolan
DVM, Post Road Vet Clinic Wells, ME
Shania, much loved Rottie canine to
Gail Egonuis of Wells, ME. Goodbyes are never easy.
