You were a sweet boy who we all grew to love. We will miss your beautiful
face and your wonderful presence. Goodbye special friend.... may you run
free in heavens fields. Your Family
I must sadly report that, while on
vacation down the beach in August, my beloved Booby
(sounds like woobie) became quite ill and needed to be put to rest at the
age of 16. I adopted her 3.5 years ago from Marlee's, in December (she
was my "Christmas kitty") at the age of about 13. Shortly after
her adoption, I had to put my first kitty, Emily, to sleep due to kidney
failure. After a few months in my home, Booby took on a lot of Em's characteristics,
which was a huge comfort to me. Her shelter name was Esmerelda.
I was working at the shelter at the time and was totally bowled over by
her patience, gentle demeanor and beauty. I knew that older kitties may
be harder to place and I just couldn't resist her. She was sweet and very
loving and very much enjoyed her final years here at my home with me and
my other two kitties. She and my other older "girl", Kizzy, really
bonded and became best of friends; they looked after one another both in
and out of the house.
Booby was
attentive and loving and actually slept in bed, under the covers, in my
arms every night. I miss her desperately but am comforted by the fact that
I know she loved her "Mum", "adopted siblings" and
home. She was also nicknamed "The Mighty Huntress" and loved
nothing better than to sit in her yard and watch for critters to chase.
She used to go on walks with me to visit my neighbor out back of me and
he has told me that she often went over on her own to watch him work on
his tractor. She loved to just "hang out" and never ventured
far from home, nor did she ever go near the road (of course, I watched
her VERY closely when she was first let outside to make sure that she was
not a wanderer!). She also loved to vacation with me and the other kitties
down at Wells Beach. Again, she was able to go out there as well, as she
was such a good little homebody, never venturing much further than the
porch. She loved to play and loved the occasional catnip "nightcap"
that I would put in a bag for her to attack. She was a quiet kitty....I
think it was about 1 year before I ever heard her speak! She was a totally
non-demanding cat, only becoming insistent when I had the bedcovers too
tight for her to get under at night.
My little Boober
(another of the probably 6 nicknames she had!) was always a little compromised
in the health department. I found out eventually that she had irritable
bowel syndrome and she had to be watched closely to make sure she didn't
dehydrate. The vets and I tried very hard to solve her problem with special
food and medications but nothing worked for long, unfortunately. Sometimes
we had to go to the vet and get some fluids into her when she got "dry"
and everyone there loved her too. Most likely, at the end, she had kidney
disease, but was kept as healthy as possible for a long time. She's in
kitty heaven now, waiting for me and I just know she is fat and healthy
again and saving some kitty kisses for me. Miss you, Boo....Iove
my beautiful old lady WHOLE BUNCHES!
I adopted Fosters
in around February of 1992 and at the time
he was 1 year old. Through all of the sad times and lonely ones he was
always there for me to comfort me at my time of need by always using his
special personality to try to cheer me up. I sadly had to have Foster's
put to sleep today September 12, 2001 at 12:00pm because I was unable to
afford the operation he needed to help him. I feel that I have failed him
because I was unable to afford his operation and I feel riddled with guilt
about it. I stayed with Foster's throughout the entire ordeal and I never
have felt such a great loss as the loss that I have felt today. I even
stayed with him after he was put to sleep to cry and tell him that I will
miss him. Foster's was a front double pawed orange tabby and my best friend.
I will never forget him as I will miss him always. Goodbye my friend and
to the one that was always there to comfort me during the tough times.
I will miss you always and forever. I love you always Foster's and I hope
that you are happy where you are now and I hope to see you again on the
other side when I pass away someday. Love, Your best friend Gary
In loving memory of Troika
(1987-2001) You were a better friend than I ever could have asked for.
Thanks for always giving me your love and companionship. You always made
me try to be a better person to be deserving your love. From the first
moment I saw you at Marlee Animal Rescue, right up to your last breath,
I tried to do the best I could for you no matter how hard it was on me.
You will always have my love and never be forgotten. Run and explore heavens
endless forests, for you can not tire now. When we next meet you can show
me the trails.

to put him down due to a inoperable brain tumor. It has been over a year
and we think of him every day. He will never be forgotten. With all our
love Mom and Dad.
We said goodbye to our dear
Lucy yesterday. She was a devoted friend and constant
support for the past 13 years. She was a tolerant foster-dog to so many

ME.
In sad memory of Tazz...his
tragic loss was felt by all. He may not have lived long, but in the short
time I had him, he brought me a lot of joy. He was one of the sweetest
cats I've ever known. I've never seen such a beautiful personality! That's
why it is so sad that he died in the way he did and so young. I wish this
story didn't have such a tragic ending. I am saddened by the whole thing.
I really got attached to the little guy. Tiffany
Nelson
Tiffany adopted Tazz in December, shortly before Christmas.
Tazz was found one morning in the middle of the Christmas packages under
the tree. During the night he had awakened while everyone was asleep and
begun playing with the packages. He got tangled up in the ribbons and was
strangled. We print this so everyone with young kittens and puppies will
be aware that this can happen.

Sadly missed Jack...a
champion of dogs and constant companion of Julie
Fernee of North Berwick, ME. Jack, a Pit Bull
Terrier mixed breed was rescued from certain death at age 6 months, from
the streets of a Mexican Barrio in Los Angeles, CA. He gave his mistress
a continuous whirlwind of experiences while she dedicated herself to the
full time job of keeping him out of trouble and harm's way.
Stories and memories of his colorful,
if somewhat checkered past, remain and give us laughter as we remember
him. Jack passed away at the ripe old age of 16 years in the peaceful quiet
of his New England farmhouse in North Berwick, ME. We share your loss.
We would like to say goodbye to two
wonderful dear friends who passed away at the shelter before finding homes.
Chewie the Hamster

Spencer succumb
to his illness. We are all extremely sad at the loss of such a happy personable

Lovingly remembered Gypsy
faithful friend and companion of Jill Newman
of Acton. Her time here
was so short, but her memory will
last in the hearts of those who knew her forever.
A very special pet was lost this week
at the age of sixteen. Everyone who was privileged to know Gypsy
won't forget her. A beautiful black Lab-Dalm., she was all the things we
hope to find in a pet. All her family loved her.
My best friend and my handsome boy
passed away on March 13 . He is missed so much. He was a beautiful
golden retreiver.
This goes out to my sweet kitten that
was put to sleep last week. I had her a month, almost to the day. She was
a black, orange, gray and white tiger, with beautiful gray/green eyes.
She was the first kitten I had ever owned, which made her even more special
to me. Her name was Elspeth,
I had named her for the heroine of my favorite book. She was very very
sweet. A few weeks after I got her, she started having seizures. The vet
said that she'd more than likely grow out or them. One night however, she
started to have a seizure and she wouldn't come out of it. We went to the
vets and he said that there really wasn't anything she could do. I had
to put her to sleep. Nobody knows exactly what Elspeth
had, all I know is that I lost my best friend that night. Melissa
Locke

their declining years because their previous owner was in failing health
and could no longer care for them. Against all odds of ever being chosen
for adoption, these two older dogs were placed in new homes with Martha
McBride & Ruth Brooks who were close friends.
The two dogs were together nearly evry day until Lady's passing in late
1997. Thank You ladies for giving these two old friends an extended lease
on life in loving, caring homes. We are sure they are together still. Joyfully
remembered and sadly missed by all of us that knew them. We share your
