We know we continually harp on this subject, but the need continues...
Many kittens, puppies, rabbits, cats & dogs are put to death because there simply are not enough homes available. As a NO Kill organization, we find this unacceptable! The solution is so simple-spay or neuter your pet. Neutering your pet not only helps control over-population, but it can save your pet's life! Many conditions and diseases can be significantly reduced by
having your cat or dog spayed, including many common types of cancer. Other social benefits to having a spayed or neutered companion
animal include having a less stressed out pet. Cats that are left intact fight,
spray urine to mark territory, yowl constantly and are frequently seen by their
vet for abscessed bite wounds. Male dogs roam and form
aggressive packs when a neighborhood female dog is in heat. These packs are
dangerous to people and children living near by. Female dogs tend to be
irritable and snappy. There are many reasons to have your pet neutered.
Attention landlords: You can do your part to help over-population of pet animals by
requiring all tenants to provide proof of spay/neuter for any animal they may
have. If you are kind enough to allow animals, this should be the next step.
Many of the animals arriving at the shelters are superfluous litters left behind
in apartments when owners moved out. By checking on spay/neuter, you will not
only keep down the numbers of unwanted animals, but you will insure that
responsible people are inhabiting your dwellings.

Rabies Clinics
We hold rabies clinics 3-4 times per year, in North
Berwick and Berwick. Our clinics now offer
microchipping as well as rabies vaccinations.
Food Bank
