Mission Statement
We are a No-Kill Rescue
We believe that with some temporary assistance, many animals can remain in their current homes instead of being admitted to animal shelters.
We believe in helping pets and our county by providing temporary supplies of pet food to families suffering from unemployment, seniors on fixed incomes and families that are dealing with chronically illnesses where resources are tightly dedicated. These services may be made available from a pet food bank established for this specific purpose.
We believe in providing a low cost spay/neuter program for the peoples of York County for the purpose of reducing unwanted births and unfortunate deaths of the offsprings.
We believe in providing emergency funds for intervention in medical services for injured pets that are salvageable and would live a full normal life with appropriate medical services provided in a timely manner.
We believe in offering temporary foster care for pets whose care providers may need to get short-term hospital care. Many seniors and chronically ill patients will put off necessary health services for lack of a safe haven for their pets. This service will provide piece of mind speeding the recovery of seniors or chronically ill patients that may wish to take advantage of this service. From our food bank we shall provide the necessary food and shelter for pets placed in our temporary care.
We believe in helping pets through temporary care & sheltering for abused persons in battered shelters.
A Wall-Less Rescue
It is now over 6years since Another Chance Animal Rescue began its new life as a "Wall-less Rescue." During that time we have rescued, fostered and placed hundreds of homeless animals, as well as opening our now thriving Another Chance Thrift Shop on Market Street in North Berwick, which we then expanded to include an Adoption Center to offer a central location for adoptions to take place. Our growth has been thoughtful and careful, as well as successful. We now look again to the future and find that it is time to consider the possibility of a more permanent location for our Thrift Shop and Adoption Center, both having outgrown our present space. To that end, we are creating a "Capital Fund" which we hope will soon enable us to purchase a larger and more useful space for both our Another Chance Thrift Shop and Adoption Center. We are asking those of you who can support this expansion to make donations with the words "Capital Fund" on your check. Those donations will go directly to that fund and will be used exclusively for that purpose. We offer our thanks for the support that you have given over the past years, which has enabled us to reach this point of growth - and we appreciate whatever you can do to assist us in moving into the future.
Back Bones... Volunteers are the backbone of any nonprofit organization. They not only save the organization money, but time. Time to get many important things done that might not have otherwise been possible. Our rescue is run by folks who generously volunteer their time, homes and hearts in order to help. Through our Foster Care program, animals have a safe, healthy "place to be" until loving homes can be found for them. 100% of your donations help make this possible. We are able to do more for the animals without the added expense of a payroll, supplies & monthly bills.
Imagine your pets being homeless...Wouldn't you want them to have the care, attention and love they deserve while awaiting new homes? We have struggled for many years to be of service to our animal & human neighbors. We are continuing to accept donations through the mail, over the net through PayPal, in our little "doghouse" donation boxes, through our raffle etc to continue providing services for those in need. We continue to rescue homeless animals through our foster care network.
But we can't do it without your support. Many volunteers are needed to continue our mission. Foster care homes, staffing for our thrift store "Another Chance," and donations of goods & money. If you would like to get involved, we certainly can use your help…please choose to make the difference in the life of another. We have various volunteer opportunities-Thrift Store Volunteers-We would like to get the Thrift Store open from 9-5 daily. Make your own hours! Newsletter Mailings-putting address labels on our newsletter for bulk mailing...Rabies Clinics-filling in Rabies Certificates etc.....Anything you can do to lend us a hand would be very much appreciated!
