A Special Young Lady…

Eight-year-old Katie Hickey of Rollinsford, NH organized and sponsored her very first annual Doll Show to benefit Another Chance Animal Rescue on September 11th 2004 at her great grandmother's home in Eliot, ME and on October 9th, 2004 at her grandmother's home in Rollinsford, NH. In addition to the wonderful display of her dolls, Miss Hickey provided refreshments for her guests and a variety of raffles. Guests were by invitation only, admission being a donation of pet food, cat litter or treats. Two hundred sixty six dollars was raised along with a carload of pet supplies!

Katie became involved with animal care and rescue when in Katie's words "Me and my family are sad of the loss of our best dog Dewey. Look at this picture…Don't you think Dewey was a cute and cuddly little dachshund? Dewey was my best friend. I know that if you knew Dewey, you would have loved him just like I still do." Dewey belonged to Katie's uncle.

Dewey would be very proud of all the hard work Katie is doing helping other animals to be safe. We wish more than anything Katie and her family had had more time with Dewey. We thank Denise, Katie & their family for caring for & reaching out to help others in their time of loss.

Tiffany Hayward stopped by the Portsmouth Court House on 7/6/04 to lend a paw calling attention to animal abuse. We appreciate Tiffany's concern and good nature all for a good cause. Tiffany would like to remind everyone that pets are family members and when someone hurts these helpless members we are all sadden by the pain.

Tucker, a 2-year-old black and tan miniature dachshund owned by Paula Sargent, of Greenland, NH came to show his support for his fellow canine Dewey.
